April (Snow) Showers

Winter stopped by to pay a brief visit.

Germany Valley and Seneca Rocks

Debbie and I took an Easter Sunday drive through Germany Valley. Located about an hour's drive from our home, it contains the South Branch of the Potomac and Seneca Rocks.

Seneca Rocks

North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac flows past Seneca Rocks

Look closely and you'll see a couple of climbers.

Here's one.

And here's the other.

Some people go to great extremes for an Easter egg hunt.

South Glade Crossing

Tucker and I meandered through a section of the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Trees are beginning to leaf out and grasses are starting to send up some new growth.

I Love April in the Mountains

April weather can be spectacular. Cool foggy mornings give rise to bright sunny afternoons. The absence of foliage on the trees allows for stark contrasts and less impeded views. No bugs. And few if any hikers.

Tucker and I enjoyed a hike down one of my favorite trails in the Dolly Sods Wilderness.
